Composition competition 2017: Marimba
The final concert of the 2017 Sorodha Composition Competition, this year for marimba, took place on the 29th of April 2017. After hearing the works played by Ewelina Hajda, Hsiang-Ting Tseng and Rodrigo Marques, the jury came to this decision:
- the First Prize is awarded to Tianyang Zhang (China) for his work Bronzeguß
- and the Second Prize to Massimo Lauricella (Italy) for his work L'antico canto del Palissandro.
Furthermore, the vote by the audience resulted in the Public Prize being awarded to Hyunwook Tak (South Korea) for Momentum.
The jury wishes to congratulate the other finalists, Vasiliki Legaki (Greece) and her 43 Sunsets and Chris Hung (Hong-Kong) with Cold City for their fine works too.
Prof. Ludwig Albert, Ph.D., member of the Jury, announced that these five works would be added to the repertoire of the Universal Marimba Competition's next edition. One of these, to be determined, will be the compulsory work.
