Composition competition 2014
Composition competition 2014: Unaccompanied cello
The final concert of the 2014 Sorodha Composition Competition, dedicated to the cello this year, took place on the 22nd of March 2014. After hearing the works played by Sarah Dupriez and Sigrid Vandenbogaerde, the jury came to this decision:
- the First Prize is awarded to Francisco del Pino for his work Lágrimas (audio)
- and the Second Prize to Jarosław Płonka for his work Alloy (audio). Jarek Płonka was already one of the finalists of this competition two years ago.
Furthermore, the vote by the audience resulted in the Public Prize being awarded to Marcos Fernández for Chiaroscuro (audio). Also already a finalist two years ago, Marcos achieves to claim this very same prize for the second time!
The jury wishes to congratulate the other finalists, Martin Loridan and his work Two Pieces for Solo Cello (audio) and Coreen Morsink and her work Conversation with a Rose (audio) for their interesting music too.
Sorodha expresses many thanks to the members of the jury, Bart Bouckaert, Alain Craens, Wim Henderickx, Takao Hyakutome, Luc Van Hove and Marc Verhaegen for their enthusiastic cooperation!
